The service is good and quick. They had no diesel cars left, but we could choose from several gasoline cars. The only minus - too many scratches on all doors, roof ...

It was a little unclear at first after coming through passport control in the arrival hall, but found the rental place very quickly, bus service ok. Service was excellent, very friendly person, taking the time to explain the contract. I knew about the full tank of petrol, which I don't like, but have to accept. Also the insurance was explained. The car hire was very cheap so I wasn't expecting too much, the car had a few marks on it, but was in perfect working order. Tires could do with a renewal soon. The car was clean, radio working,so all in all I was happy.

A Quick Guide to... Aspen

Known as the playground of the noted and wealthy, Aspen nestles high in the Rocky Mountains of North America. Dwarfed by the towering peaks of the Elk Mountains, it still manages to retain its community spirit and offers a balance of sporting activities, chic boutiques and fine cuisine.

Primarily known as a ski resort, Aspen is much more than this. Undisputedly, it is one of the world?s top skiing hotspots with the Aspen Mountain being used by experienced skiers, whilst Buttermilk and Snowmass address mostly to families and beginners.

In the spring, the mountainsides come alive with spring flowers. In summer times, tourists are attracted by organized hiking trips and, in the autumn, the Aspen groves turn an amazing shade of gold that you wouldn?t want to miss.

In this area, it is possible to go on mountain biking, kayaking, white water rafting and also rock climbing, so if you are an adrenalin junkie, this is the area for you.

Aspen is also a cultural town and offers music festivals, food and wine festivals. Amongst its famous visitors there are: David and Victoria Beckham, Mariah Carey, Kevin Costner, Goldie Hawn, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones. This is definitely the place to be if you like to go star spotting.

Aspens? only airport is Aspen Pitkin County Airport. It has only one runway and opens from 7am to 10pm daily. This airport does become very busy at peak times.

There is only one highway that runs through the town: the Colorado State Highway 82. There are one or two mountain passes but these quickly become blocked during the winter, prompting people to use all-terrain vehicles.
