Porto Airport

Porto Airport otherwise known as Francisco de Sa Carneiro Airport is the main airport in the city of Porto, Portugal.  Located just six miles away from the city centre, Porto Airport has flights departing and arriving from locations all over the world including numerous European destinations and a few in Canada.  Although Porto Airport is relatively small, it was awarded the title of the best airport in Europe for service in 2008.

Facilities

Porto Airport has a small selection of restaurants available to passengers and a slightly larger selection of cafes that can be found throughout the terminal.  There are also a number of shops including the usual duty free chains and some Portuguese shops which stock a great range of souvenirs and local Portuguese products.  There are also three business lounges, ATMs, money exchange booths, banks, a post office and a pharmacy.  Disabled access is available throughout the airport.

Terminals

Porto Airport has only one terminal which makes the whole flight experience extremely easy.  You will be advised of your gate number at check-in and you can also confirm this once you have passed through into the terminal itself.  Airport information facilities are located in the public area of the terminal.

Getting To and From the Airport

Porto Airport is linked to the city of Porto via the metro.  Taxis and buses are also available into the city of Porto, and there is also a bus service twice a day to Vigo.  However if you really want to travel around Portugal at your own pace, the best option by far is car hire Porto Airport.  There are a number of car hire companies who operate from the airport and these can be compared and booked online through the anycarhire.com website.
