Miami

Miami is the second largest city in Florida.  It is renowned for its beautiful weather and the large number of beach resorts in the city and is frequented by thousands of tourists every month.  The summer months from June to the end of September are scorching hot and this is when the city is most popular with holiday makers.  However, Miami’s winter is not exactly cold and you may even find you need to turn the air-con on from time to time.

Things to See and Do

Miami is full of things to see and do, with the beaches of course being the main reason for most tourists to visit.  The nightlife is also worth checking out as the atmosphere can be very lively – especially during the weekends.  If you fancy doing something a little different during your time in the city, other options include hot air balloon rides, yacht rentals or a spa break.  You could also go and see the Miami Dolphins play live!

Festival Time

Festival time in Miami is guaranteed to be fun and the good news is there are dozens of festivals in the city at various times throughout the year.  Some options include the Ultra Music Festival held in March, the Miami Carnival which is held in February and Miami Fashion Week which is again in March.  Of course, the usual celebrations such as Independence Day and Christmas are also guaranteed to be lively with firework displays and beach parties being the norm.

Getting Around

It is relatively simple to get around Miami with the public transport.  The city is home to an metro-rail and regular bus routes, and of course there are the usual cabs.  However, if you want to travel around at a pace that suits you your best option is car hire Miami.  With a number of car rental companies operating from Miami Airport you can choose a model that either has room for the whole family or one that is perfect for cruising the streets of the city, and at a price that suits you.
