The city of Venice is located in northern Italy and is the capital of the region of Veneto. It’s known as the City of Water and The Floating City and is renowned for its artworks and architecture. Venice is renowned for it’s rich and varied architectural style, the most striking being the Gothic style, as well as several Renaissance and Baroque buildings, like the Ca’ Pesaro and the Ca’ Rezzonico. The city played an important role in the development of Italian music, especially during the time of the Venetian Republic. It was at this point in history that Venice was one of the most important musical centres in Europe, with such attractions as the Venetian Music School and the development of the Venetian polychoral style of composition.
