Tunisia lies to the Northern Africa bordering the Mediterranean Sea between Algeria and Libya. This city has diverse economy with important mining, energy, tourism and manufacturing sectors. The Coral Coast often known as Green Tunisia is a delightful part of the country, a region of hills, mountains and fertile plains. Bizerta formely the Roman city of Hippo Diarrytus was a key port during World War II, it retains its old fishing harbour, a kasbah and medina the Andalusian quarter wide avenues and a palm fringed promenade. The wooded and flower decked foothills of Khroumiria behind the Coral Coast have more than a hint of unspoilt Provence although the forests are of cork trees rather than olive.
Tunisia has a wide variety of historicl settlements, Punic, Roman, Byzantine and Islamic many of which are in excellent conditions. The small whitewashed town of El Jem is dominated by the well preserved Colosseum, its lion coloured outer walls are 35m high and there was seating for about 30,000. Dougga is a major Roman site in a lofty setting southwest of Tunis, this theater built in AD 168 resounds when Greek based classical plays and other performances are staged.
