Stuttgart History

The Romanian captured the Stuttgart in the 1ST AD and built a fortress at Cannstatt. The original inhabitant of Stuttgart was the German tribe Alemanni. In the 5th century the Suevi and another German clan arrived there. The region went through a succession of rulers- the Frankish Empire, the Carolingian Dynasty and Charlemagne, to name a few, after the Romans. By the 9th century, the area became part of the duchy of Swabia, which encompassed much of southern Germany as well as parts of Switzerland and France. The Stuttgart became the city in the 13th century when the Swabia fell under the rule of Wurttemberg. The growing city took the pace for growth in the `15th century. Durint the 19th c entury the city become the region for indusrtilization and the inventions of Robert Bosch (spark plug) and Gottleig Daimler (petrol engine) revolutionized the city. The Stuttgart becomes the leader in manufacturing of motor vehicles after the advent of combustion. During the WWII, Stuttgart was heavily bombed but it quickly rebuilt and restored its most of the building. In  the year 1953, the Stuttgart become the provincial capital.Today, Stuttgart is Germany's eighth-largest city, and although it has something of a well-deserved reputation for being an industrial centre, enlightened town planning throughout the 20th century has made it appealingly green. Having with air of relaxed prosperity and impressive museum, it attracts nearly a million visitors every year.
