Arrival
Sofia airport- situated 10km to the east of the town and connected with the city through the bus #84 running to Orlov Most; or minbus #30, which drops off outside the Tzum shopping mall. Taxi drivers tend to charge foreigners fresh off the plane a hefty US$20-30 for the ride into town. If you utter the odd word of Bulgarian or appear to know where you're going, you might get away with paying about half that. leaving the international arrivals terminal, head to the right for about 100m to find the bus stop , where there's also a small kiosk selling tickets for the bus. City transport- An extensive bus, trolleybus and tram network extends to just about everywhere you're likely to want to go, and inexpensive taxis fill the gaps. Public transport is cheap and reasonably efficient, with intertwining networks of buses ( avtobus ), trolleybuses ( troleibus ) and trams ( tramvai ). A single metro line runs from central Sofia to the western suburb of Lyulin - but as no hotels or tourist attractions lie along its route, you're unlikely to use it. Most services run from about 4am until 11.30pm. Some cross-town routes are operated by privately owned minibuses (marshrutki), which are faster than regular buses but cost more to use.
