Bratislava- city was made the capital of the country in 1969 and since then it is the largest city. The city have many beautiful monuments surviving in the old town, having left with its remainders of past under Hungarian rule. The city is also home to several surprisingly rich museums. Trenciánske Teplice- Trenciánske Teplice is a spa town in West Slovakia. Hiking trails lead into the green hills flanking the resort. Vysoké Tatry- the Vysoké Tatry are the only truly alpine mountains in Eastern Europe and one of the smallest high mountain ranges in the world. Enhancing the natural beauty packed into this relatively small area (260 sq km/100 sq mi) are 30 valleys, almost 100 glacial lakes and numerous bubbling streams. Čachtice Castle- The fame of this castle, one of several 13th-century Hungarian strongholds between Piešťany and Trenčín, springs from its gruesome history. Devín Castle- This castle at the confluence of the Morava and Danube rivers was the main Habsburg military bulwark. Napoleon's army sacked it in 1809. There's an exhibit of artefacts in what remains of the palace. Malá Fatra National Park the Malá Fatra National Park protects the Vratná Valley; a thickly forested cul-de-sac that many say is Slovakia's most beautiful valley. It's certainly one of the republic's most accessible mountain regions, with dramatic scenery, bracing hikes, and plenty of summer accommodation along the trails. Museum of Jewish Culture, Židovská 17- The excellent Museum of Jewish Culture is in the environs of Bratislava Castle. Its displays on the history and culture of the region's much-persecuted Jews have signs in English and are deeply moving. Spiš castle- Spissky hrad is the largest castle in Slovakia. It was founded in 1209, wrecked by the Tatars in the 13th century and reconstructed in the 15th century. The highest enclosure contains a round Gothic tower, a cistern, a chapel and a rectangular Romanesque palace perched over the abyss. Instruments of torture are exhibited in the dungeon.
