
Seville
Seville is the capital of Andalusia and is Spain’s 4 th largest city. The architecture is a layered blend of Christan and Moorish styles those cliches that are most associated with Spain are all there in the huddled in Andalucia’s compact capital.
Seville is a man for all seasons and a season for all men, cultural vultures swoop on the numerous museums and megalithic monuments of a time gone by whist eagle eyed visitors and new fascination in every small detail. The city is unique with the whole of Spain encapsulated in a postcard-sized bite with enough attractions to keep a loyal following entranced thime and time again and with a Carmenesque allure that rarely fails to seduce all new comers. There is plenty to see and explore in the city of Seville including the Cathedral which is now reckoned to be the world’s largest church. Among the attraction are the Giralda the tower which adjoins the Cathedral was the mosque’s minaret and dates from the 12 th century. On the banks of the River Guadalquivir stands the Torre de Oro which represents one of Seville’s major landmarks originally built by the Moors as a way to close access to the harbour by attaching a chain to it and to the opposite bank of the river. Some of the other famous attraction in the city are the Alcazar the fortress from the Muslim era which served as a hideout of Muslim and Christan roylaty for many centuries, the Plaza de Espana one of the country’s most famous and spectacular plazas containing fountains and mini canals and is surrounded by a display of tile work representing all the provinces of Spain and the Archivo de Indias, the building on the west side of the plaza del Triunfo has been the main archive of Spain’s American empire.
The city is famous for some of the selection of interesting bars and restaurants offering tapas that tastes like little appetizers that Spainards eat with their drink before heading off to the dinner. There is no end of dishes to try and no end of bars to try them in. This city has the largest number of bars per person in Spain and is the best place to savour tapas. One of the beauties of Tapas is that there’s always something for everybody whether it be meat, sea food, vegetables, cheese or olives so you will never go hungry in this beautiful city of Spain.
