Salamanca is located in the Castile and Leon region of Western Spain not far from the Portuguese border. It is world renown for is marvelous buildings and urban environment. The climate of Salamanca is considered Continental Mediteranean moderated by its altitude and pretty much dry. Average temperatures over the year range from around 0ºC to 30ºC. Salamanca's economy is heavily driven by the university and related services. However there is also an agricultural and industrial base.
