The flagship city is located inbetween England’s Hampshire coast and the Isle of Wight.
Portsmouth is an excellent place to discover maritime England and the right holiday centre. The city has long beaches, old and historical : ships, castles, muesum and forts. The city has access to Isle of Wight and Hampshire.
Historical Ships and Docks : the Royal Dockyard is the most famous, housing the Henry VIII’s ‘Mary Rose’, the Victorian iron clad HMS Warrior (oldest ship) and Nelson’s flagship HMS Victory. The docks area are home to the city’s nautical and museum.
The city is full of museums like the D-Day Meuseum, Royal Navy Museum and a museum at the birth place of the famous Charles Dicken’s. The city’s centre is on the east which has natural harbour, with 13 th century cathedral, resturants and shopping centres. Southsea the beachfront has long sandy beaches and is home to Henry VIII’s 16 th century Southsea castle.
