Bacalhau ŕ Gomes de Sá is another famous Portuguese dish that has been originated from Porto. It is mainly a casserole of cod, potatoes and onion. This is a very special preparation of one of those famous Balachaus of Portugal. Balachaus are considered a delicious Portuguese specialty.
A popular native snack in Porto is the Francesinha. It is made with wet-cured ham, fresh sausage like chipolata, steak or roast meat and covered with molten cheese and a hot thick tomato and beer sauce.
Porto is the homeland of the famous Port wine. Apart from luring the local people and the tourists this wine has been a significant item of trade of Porto for centuries.
