Playa Blanca

Playa Blance is one of the most southerly resort on the island of Lanzarote, once a little fishing village at the southwestern coast of the island it has been developing during the past few years into one of the great tourist resorts. It is the latest major tourist resort to be developed in the years to come. It is currently Lanzarote’s most up coming tourist destination. Some of the villa developments around the edge of the town are fairly faceless but on the whole it is developing into a nice town which seems to have learnt from the mistakes made by other resorts both on Lanzarote and the other Canary Islands.

Playa Blanca features some town beaches and some of the most beautiful beaches on the island. There is a harbour with daily ferries to Corralejo in Fuerteventura. The golf course planned for construction and the new sport Marina Rubicon has certainly made the city a more upmarket resort. The golden sand, clear water and blue skies are of great places to lay back and chill out. The other famous beaches are the Playa Flamingo which is also very clean, safe and attractive, this is the nearest sandy beach to the newer developments around Montans Roja and the lighthouse at Pechiguera such as Faro park, Carlos park and Shangrila, the Playa Dorada beach is translated as the golden beach and this is certainly an accurate description with its warm honey coloured sand and the Papagayo beach perhaps the most well known of all the beaches in the city is a collection fo small beaches that are separated by high cliffs forming a number of sheltered bays.

Shopping in the city of Playa Blanca is fabulous with normal tourist shops in the center and along the central part of the beach promenade, the new Marina Rubicon is also a very famous shopping place rapidly becoming the place for the tourist to go there. Nightlife is fantastic in the city of Playa Blanca, you can eat and drink in one of the may bars and restaurants, certainly those who want late night discos then it one can look forward at the Puerto del Carman or Costa Teguise.
