There are various ways of going to Palermo. You can reach to Palermo by plane, by train, by bus, by car and by boat.
From the mainland of Italy to Palermo-the easiest and fastest way to go there is the plane root. Punta Raisi is the largest airport of Palermo land having the largest numbers of flights. There is a very good bus service to Piazza Giulio Cesare from airport, which is a local bus to carry you from airport to the city. It might cost about $7.20. You can also take a taxi which might cost $42 or more depending on the driver. You can also rent a car at the airport. From airport to the center of the town it takes around 20-30minutes.

Another way of reaching Palermo is by bus. You can also go to Palermo from Rome by bus. But it would take a very long time to reach Palermo. And the journey is also boring and dull. It takes a 12hours journey.
The other way of reaching Palermo is by car. There are three highways link to Palermo with Sicily. From Messina to Palermo it takes a drive of 233km/145miles and from Rome it takes 721km/448miles to reach Palermo.
