Palermo is the capital city and the largest city of Sicily. It is a busy port city situated on the north western coast of the island. Palermo was one of Europes leading cities and now it is a fast, brash and exciting city.
Palermo as a tourist attraction is overlooked but the most important tourist attractions are the Norman Cattedrale and the Saracen Norman Spanish Palazzo Reale a former Royal Palace and now the Parliament. Some fine architecture and very good museums, churches and historical buildings make the city of Palermo the city of destiny and tourist. The Museo Archeologico Regionale contains archeological exhibits from the famous sites in western Sicily. Other attractions are the La Martorana the splinded church, Teatro Massimo and the Vucciria market.
