Nimes is on the border between Provence and Languedoc and is linked to two things denim and Rome. It is diverse, attractive and endearing city and has a long history dating back to the Roman times. Some of the town’s most prestigious history dates back to the rule of Emperor Octavius. Like many towns in the region it was repeatedly ransacked by the Barbarians and after the 11 th century it enjoyed a period of recovery and began to prosper and was incorporated into France.
