Exploring New-orleans
In New Orleans, if you happen to be visiting the casinos, the central business district, or the French Quarter, you will find that a car is being more of a hindrance than a help. Not only is parking difficult and/or expensive, but plenty of public transport such as trolley cars and buses are available in the city. You can even walk to your destination during the daytime and the evening if you want to have fun and exercise. After midnight, calling a taxi is a good idea, because the prices are reasonable and the trips are short.
Potholes in the roads are quite common, and the roads are not as well-maintained as they should be. Street signs are often missing or unclear, but the situation has significantly improved in recent years. Parking spaces are quite hard to find around tourist spots, but pay lots are usually available in the vicinity of such places.
Travellers staying near or in the French Quarter can easily travel on foot, and also ride streetcars, buses or cabs if they intend to visit the other parts of town. Buses accept only exact change. Bicycles can also be rented in Frenchmen Street in Marigny.
