It is also important that you have a list of useful telephone numbers with you at all times, so that you do not feel helpless in a difficult situation or an emergency. Here are some of the important numbers that you must have with you at all times in Mexico.
Emergency Number
In Mexico, instead of 911, the emergency contact number is 060. Dial this for calling police, ambulance or fire brigade. 080 is also a similar number. In the populated areas of Mexico, if you dial 911, then the line will be automatically directed to the emergency helpline.
Tourist Safety Number
Your safety as a tourist is valuable to the Mexican authorities. Therefore, there is a tourist safety helpline that you can dial in case of emergencies. The number is (52) 5250- 0123, 01-800-5903-9200.

If you need general information on anything, call 040 in Mexico.
Medical Emergencies
If there is a medical emergency or if an urgent rescue operation is needed, help is only a call away in Mexico at (52) 5722-8805.

To call police, dial 066. This also functions as an emergency contact number.

In addition to these numbers, it is also important that you keep a contact list of your
kin and friends back home. There numbers may be stored on your phone, but it is
recommended that you keep a separate list as well. This will prove to be really useful in
case you happen to lose your phone.
