Majorca is the largest of Balearic Islands and along with its sister islands of Menorca and Ibiza lies in the Mediterranean Sea off the south east coast of mainland Spain. Early mass tourism to this idyllic Mediterranean island began in the 1950s and for years Majorca was seen as a cheap package tour destination. It has been the most popular holiday destination in the Mediterranean for both the British and the German tourist and the mass tourism in the 1960s this city was without doubt been one of the most popular holiday destinations for all nationalities.

This city of Majorca has a lot to offer to the tourist with a wide range of attractions to suit all tastes. Not any more, Majorca has cleaned up its image and whatever holiday the tourists look for the island can provide. The most popular resorts lie around the bay of Palma and each one is often prefered by a particular nationality. Geographically the island offers stunning scenery and its interior is one of the jewels of the mountains and hidden bays. Some of the famous attractions in this city are the magnificent 14 th century Gothic cathedral at Palma and it is one of the most famous attraction that many visitors never make it to the city and miss this main attraction. The other main place to visit is the drive through the Serra de Tramuntana from Soller to Port d’Andratx which is one of the most beautiful excursions which the visitors would experience.

Shopping is fabulous here it has excellent shopping with many of the brand names that is recognised from home. Restaurants in the city cater a wide range of tastes, anything is available from traditional English breakfast to Chinese take away. Traditional cuisine makes full use of the islands grown produce, pork, fish and vegetable dishes which are very popular flavoured with garlic tomato and herbs. Nightlife in Majorca ranges from the wild clubs and bars in Magaluf and Palma Nova in the popular south of the island to the relaxed and charming family oriented reosrts of Puerto Pollensa and Cala Millor on the north and the east coast. Accommodation ranges from wide variety of hotels and apartments to suit all tastes and budgets.
