Exploring Mahon
Mahon is the largest town in the Menorca. It’s a great place to be and to explore. Many historical sites of Europe are here. Before visiting the ancient sites, there is one romantic place to see; it’s the Golden Farm where Lord Nelson spent quality times with Lady Emma Hamilton- his lover.
Mahon has a great collection of historical sites and you can’t cross out any of them. Trepuco has some magnificent monuments dated back to 1930. Talati de Dalt is the place where deep underground caves can be found.
Just a bit away from Mahon is the Torre d’en Gaumes. It has the remains of settlements with the caves, which were inhabited long back in time. If you are interested in prehistoric exploration you have to visit the Naveta. It’s situated in the south of the road that reaches Mahon from Ciudadela. It has the reputation of being the oldest among the old monuments in Europe. It is used to be a burial chamber and ancient bodies used to be excavated here. The prehistoric artecrafts were also found here.
The port side area has some excellent restaurants and bars that open at night. The buzzing of people and the view of ships coming and going with the open sight of sea is the place to enjoy. To see the island, you can also take ferry to have a full view of the island from the sea.
