Like many locations the weather in Lyon is determined by Lyons location, this being in the Rhone Valley. This means that Lyon will be subject to the cold winds that occur from the Alps and also the warm breezes that travel in from the Mediterranean.

The weather in Lyon is unpredictable, but this isn’t unique to Lyon alone, infrequent weather can occur anywhere. Rain in particular can fall upon Lyon at any time, so it’s always worth taking this into consideration.

Rain can occur during the spring period in Lyon, so much so that it assumed that spring will be a wet season. The temperatures however remain pleasant throughout the spring. The Summer period is a pleasant one offering much sunshine and comfortable climates throughout. June and September are generally the months where the weather is best.

Although not as hot during autumn, Lyon still offers a pleasant temperature. Although you will again be subject to rainfall. Winter offers the worst weather as you will be subject to snow showers and sleet, this is the location of Lyon, which also means the winds will appear to be much colder than the climate actually is.

When packing for Lyon it is advisable to pack for all seasons, although you may be going during the summer months there is no harm in packing a heavy coat or a rain coat just in case you are subject to rain fall. When visiting during the winter months ensure you pack plenty of warm clothes along with a hat that has additional protection to the face, such as pull down flaps, to allow protection from the cold biting winds.
