As a city Liverpool is attracts millions of people all over the world not only for the wonderful sights and city life but also for the glorious past that belongs to the city. Though Liverpool is not among the most ancient cities of Europe and UK , the history of the city tells us why it is one of the core cities of Great Britain . The city of Liverpool was formed as the second port of the Great Britain . During that period England was expanding and just had conquered Ireland . So, king john needed another port and established Liverpool near Mersey in the year 1207. Since the establishment of the port, Ireland has long been the main trading partner for the Liverpool port.
In the early days the people of Liverpool were mainly involved in farming. Till the 19 th century Liverpool was quite a small city. In 1880 the population of Liverpool was only 611000. but with the passage of time it became one of the important port of Europe . And for this it was attacked during the Second World War, which claimed death of about 4000 people.
