The Las Vegas Valley has been home to Native Americans for thousands of years, discovered by Spanish explorers in 1829 who were attracted to the area because of the natural springs and meadows that existed there, they called the valley Las Vegas which is Spanish for The Meadows. Las Vegas officially became a city in 1911 by an act of the Nevada legislature.

The Ultimate Ballon Adventure established for over 30 years provides an amazing way tosee the city of Las Vegas and its many attractions, The Planetarium is one of the popular tourist attractions situated to the north of the city is a great place to appreciate astronomy, The Speed Roller Coaster situated on the Las Vegas Strip at the Sahara Hotel, Las Vegas Mini Grand Prix is popular for both adults and children covering over seven acres and includes go-karts, kiddie-carts and four different traks, and the Star Trek Experience situated at the Las Vegas Hilton on Paradise Road and is a major attraction for Trekkies everywhere, which includes a replica of the USS Enterprise bridge, a Star Trek Museum, full of enourmous amount of interesting memoriabilia.

Number of excellent museums are also available providing interesting information on the history of Las Vegas. Some of the major museums are the King Tut’s Tomb featuring a reproduction of the famous tomb of Egyptian King Tutankhamen, and the Elvis Museum crammed full of Elvis Presley memorabilia and situated just off the Las Vegas strip.
