
About Lanzarote
Lanzarote is of volcanic origin and is different compared to the other islands, this extraordinary landscape seems to be of another world and the inhabitants of the island says that God forget of Lanzarote on the Seventh Day of the Creation. A great part of this city is covered with ashes and lava making you feel that you were on the moon.
The towns Arrecife and Teguise the islands old and new capital. Arrecife formerly having been just the port of Teguise has grown to be the islands actual capital and Teguise the former capital carrying the name of the last Guanche kings daughter.
The island, which has been destroyed many times by the elemental force of its volcanoes and restructured, again shows some of the most incredible landscapes. The city is famous for its caves, La Cueva de los Verdes that is incredible of 7 kilometers length, which connects the volcano Corana with the sea. Some of the other attractions are the Le Geria which is famous for its spectacular landscape with thousands of small volcanic craters, one of the world’s most unusual vineyards, the Los Jameos del Agua which exhibits the combines, the miracle of nature with miracles of architecture created by Carnarian artist Cesar Manrique and the El Mirador del Rio which is a bizarre rock of 600 meters height face to face to the island Graciosa with an outstanding view point. The national park of Timanfaya with an extention of 200 km is another famous place to visit in the city of Lanzarote.
