Getting to Knock
Although Knock is a small town, the facilities and options of getting there is nothing less than enough. Ireland West Airport Knock (formerly known as Knock International Airport) is nearby. There are also lots of options to get there by road.
Flying to Knock is considered as the best option to get there. The airport is about eight miles away from town. However, the number of flights reaching Knock is limited. Knock has aerial contact with Dublin, Manchester, London, New York, Portugal and some other regions worldwide. Other than taking scheduled flights, one can charter aircraft. Licensed taxis outside airport takes the visitors to the town. Well, other than Knock International Airport; there are two more options. Dublin International Airport and then four hours drive is one of them. The other is Shannon International Airport, only three hours drive away from Knock.
Other than airplane, one can reach Knock by train or bus. Iaranrod Eireann train service between Dublin and Claremorris is the only option through railway. Claremorris is only six miles away from Knock. But the problem with train is its infrequent service and relatively high expense.
Bus service can be a better option. Bus Eireann and some private services operate from major cities to Knock. Hiring a car wouldn’t be a bad idea if the weather was a bit more predictable.
So, tourists interested in visiting Knock won’t have to worry about travelling there. The overall journey experience is usually fun.
