The Isle of Man, also simply referred to as Mann, is an island among the British Isles, and is situated in the Irish Sea in between the islands of Ireland and Great Britain. The Isle of Man is not part of the UK completely as it is a British crown dependency and the UK in only responsible for its security and foreign affairs. It is also an associate member of the EU and not a full member. It has a population of slightly over 80,000 people as of 2009.

The isle is governed by Queen Elizabeth II who is the head of state and formally known as the Lord of Mann. The isle separated from Britain and Ireland in around 8000 BC. It was raided over the years even after being converted to Christianity in the first millennium. The Isle became independent in the year 1866 and has since then been a democratic self-government. The island has four major cities including Douglas- its capital city, Castletown, Peel and Ramsey.

Buses also operate frequently from the airport to the capital and other towns. One can also get to the island by boat.
