There are number of trains at the interval of 2 hr. from the Zurich and at 40 minutes from the Bern. Geneva connects Interlaken with 2 and ½ hour frequency of train. The town has two railway stations, the Interlaken east and Interlaken west. The west is more convenient to the city centre. Main roads head east to Lucerne and west to Bern, but the only way south for vehicles, without a major detour around the mountains, is the car-carrying train from Kandersteg, south of Spiez. Trains to Grindelwald (40mins), Lauterbrunen (20mins) and Lucerne (2hrs) depart from Interlaken Ost. Trains to Brig (1½hrs) and Montreux via Bern (2hrs) depart from Interlaken West or Ost. Interlaken can be happily navigated on foot, while the Jungfrau Region lift provides public transport to all the winter sports spots. Train arrivals are at either Interlaken East or Interlaken West. If you're loaded with luggage, you'll want to grab a taxi. However, after you've been deposited at one of the local hotels (nearly all of which are in the city center), you'll rarely need a taxi -- the town is closely knit and best explored on foot. Buses are convenient for connections to the satellite towns and villages or heading to the outskirts.
