
Weather in Hungary
Situated at the heart of Europe, Hungary enjoys a continental climate while it resides in the temperate zone. As a result the weather remains quite predictable here as well as each of the four seasons appear here with diverse features.
Hungary is a flat area enclosed by the mountain areas of Alps and Carpathians almost on all side. This has protected the land from extremities of weather. The central and eastern areas of the Great Alföld have the most extreme seasonal differences with hot and dry summers and cold windy winters. The warmest point in Hungary is the village of Gyula at the river Feher-Körös. The sun is shining here 2038 hours a year; this is one of the highest records in Europe. The south-western uplands are the wettest part of the country.
The rate of rainfall is quite low in Hungary whereas the number of sunny hours is pretty high. In the recent statistics it has been shown that, current summers are drier and warmer than it was a decade ago. Specialists opine that this change in pattern is due to green house effect.
The highest temperature is recorded during the months of June and July, and the coldest months are January and February. Temperature doesn't go above 30 ° in summer and doesn't go below 5 ° in winter.
