Granada is a city and the capital of the province of Granada in Spain. Granada is an autonomous region of Andalusia. It is located near the bottom of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Granada stands at the joining of the two rivers; Darro and Genil. According to the 2005 census, the population of the city of Granada was 236,982. It is the 13th largest urban area of Spain. The population of its urban area was some where near 472,638. Around 3.3% of the population did not have Spanish citizenship. The most number of these (almost 31%) people came from South America.
The Alhambra is a Moorish citadel and palace which is located in Granada. The Alhambra is one of the most famous items of the Muslim, Jewish, and Christian historical legacy in Spain. And it makes Granada the most cherished tourist destination among the diverse cultural and tourist cities in Spain. The Almohad area with wonderful examples of Moorish and Morisco structures is preserved in the Albaicin. University of Granada is a world famous university and known through out the world. At present time, Granada’s wild night life has made it one among the 3 most desired places for the students to hang out.
