Granada City Overview
The Granada Airport stands in a place called the ‘Vega del Genil', located sixteen kilometers to the west of the city of Granada, near the small town of Santa Fé. The airport is located directly to the south of the A92 Seville motorway.
This is a well-equipped airport which mostly handles domestic flights between Madrid and Barcelona, but a number of low-cost airlines have recently begun operating some international flights from this airport as well.
The airport features a single 2900-meter runway, and an apron area capable of accommodating up to twenty-five aircraft, including eleven commercial planes.
A bus service offers several departures a day to take tourists to the city center from the airport. A departure takes place after the arrival of each flight. The trip to the city center costs €3 per person, and takes about forty-five minutes. Return buses to the airport can be taken at the Palacio de Congresos at numerous hours.
Taxis can be hired at the airport for fairly reasonable rates. It costs €17 to go to the city, €26 to Alhambra and €63 to the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort.
Among the airlines which fly from the Granada Airport, Monarch, Ryanair, Air Europa, Air Nostrum, Iberia, Spanair and Vueling are the most notable. Among these, Monarch and Ryanair offer international flights.
