When to go to Glasgow
Like any holiday destination, the best time to visit Glasgow all depends on the reason you are visiting. If you are visiting to embrace the shopping experience that Glasgow has to offer, then you can visit any time of the year. Bearing in mind that the winter periods do offer rain and bitter weather.
The winter is also the peak period for fans of winter sports who wish to take advantage of the snow covered mountains. Skiing in Scotland offers some fantastic slopes and the winter also hosts the Glasgow on Ice from November through to December.
If you are looking to enjoy the culture of Glasgow then there are many bars that offer live music and originals acts who promote Glasgow’s culture label. However if it is for a certain event then you would need to confirm the date of the event and plan your trip around it. Glasgow annual events include the Celtic Connections in January and the Glasgow International Comedy Festival in March.
Visitors wishing to take advantage of the quieter period may wish to visit during the spring. Although you may be subject to some partial rain, you can take advantage of the less busy streets and you will be able to source accommodation more easily.
If you enjoy walks in the countryside then the autumn may be the best time to visit. The gold and brown colours surrounding the countryside makes it a more enjoyable experience then offer periods in the year. Autumn is also the time Glasgow hosts the Autumn Speyside Whiskey Festival and the Scottish Book Town Festival.
So as you can see there is no shortage of activities and sights to take in during your visit to Glasgow. So unless you’re visiting for a specific event you can visit Glasgow at any time, a warm welcome will always be given by the city of Glasgow.
