Arrival
Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city, as well as being the third most populated city in the United Kingdom.
Glasgow hosts two separate Airports, the first being Glasgow International and the second being Glasgow Prestwick. Glasgow Prestwick caters for low cost airlines. Glasgow International is located 8 miles from the city of Paisley. The airport has a number of routes to London and many other parts of the British Isles.
Should you wish to use public transport to travel from the airport to your destination, Glasgow International has several different bus services going to various locations throughout Glasgow. Buses that operate to the city centre can be identified directly outside the airport. Glasgow Prestwick operates a bus service every hour which travels to Buchanan Bus Station
Should you wish to travel with a heavy luggage load, then a taxi may be the best option. There are taxis available directly outside the airport. Fees from Glasgow International vary around £20.00 to the city centre. However, if you are able to book a taxi through a private hire company you may find it a cheaper alternative. Taxis from Glasgow Prestwick can be double this amount due to the airport’s location.
Glasgow International does not have a rail station nearby; however should you wish to use the rail service you can purchase Airtrain Ticket. This will connect you to the Gilmour Street Station in Paisley. A connecting bus service will deliver you to the train station.
Visitors from the Glasgow Prestwick station can find trains from the connecting rail station. They run on a half hour frequency. The journey can take up to around 45 minutes.
Anyone driving should head towards the M8 which is more or less a direct route to the city centre. However you should be aware that during peak times congestion can occur.
