
Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura is the second largest city of the Canary Islands with the longest coastline with wide plains and gentle valleys with some fantastic white sand beaches and is the fourth most developed city of the Canary Island after Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote. It is a geographical no mans land and a place for those who wish to escape from the pressures of todays life.
Special attraction of the city is fishing in unbelievably transparent waters, and the city has lovely beaches in the vicinity of its capital, Puerto del Rosario. There are two beaches in the north and the south that can be compared with the best in the world. This city is a beautiful and relaxed island with a lot to offer especially for the beach lovers and watersports enthusiasts including surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing facilities.
Fuerteventura’s busiest holiday resort is built around the town of Caleta de Fuste known as Castillo, the resort is steadily growing in facilities and popularity the latest being the golf course. The resorts central location makes it good base to explore the rest of the island. Some of the other attractions are the Santa Maria Church, the Casa Museo Arquebiologico which is an interesting museum documenting the history of the island and the La Lajita Zoo the little fishing village on the east coast of Fuerteventura is one of the island’s main attraction. The old harbour in the city features some attractive examples of Canarian architecture and the home of exiled poet Miguel de Unamuno is now been turned into a museum. There are very good restaurants beside the churfh and cheese and wine tasting is also offered.
