The Flughafen Frankfurt/Main is at the intersection of two major highways and is 11km from the city centre at the Frankfurter Kreuz. The busiest in Europe, this continental airport serves more than 240 destinations in about 110 countries worldwide. It is also the international gate of Germany. Frankfurt can be reached from all of the major airport of Germany. At the Airport Train Station beneath Terminal 1, you can connect to German InterCity trains and S-Bahn commuter trains to Frankfurt and nearby cities. Terminal 2 is linked to Terminal 1 by a people-mover system, Sky Line, which provides quick transfers. Frankfurt's main rail station, the Hauptbahnhof, the busiest in Europe, is the arrival point for some 1,600 trains per day carrying about 255,000 passengers. A train arrives from most major cities of Germany every hour until 8pm. Many other European cities also have direct rail links with Frankfurt. Frankfurt has long-distance bus service to about 800 German and European cities. Buses depart from the south side of the Hauptbahnhof. The public transport of Frankfurt is efficient and very convenient. The Frankfurt’s internal dewtinations are linked through by the fast network, modern subways, trams and buses. All methods of public transport can be used within their respective fare zones at a single price, which includes transfers between any of them. Tickets are purchased at green, coin-operated automatic machines (Fahrscheine) that are lined up adjacent to each of the points of departure.
