
Getting to Faro
The city of Faro is the capital of the Algarve region and is a municipal in the southern Portugal. The city is endowed with breath-taking natural beauty as well as historical treasure.
Like the other cities in Europe, getting to Faro is very easy. The city is supported with a very strong network of transportation. The easiest and fastest means of reaching Faro is obviously the airways. Faro has an airport of its own, and international flights from all the main European cities as well as from other parts of Portugal arrive here daily. The city can also be reached by Lisbon airport. There are convenient transports available from Lisbon to Faro.
However, the cheapest means of reaching Faro remains the bus service. There is a wider region of choices which results from advanced road network and privately run bus companies offer superb service covering most of Faro. Taxis are also widely available.
There are two inter regional trains every day between Faro and Lisbon Barreiro Station. To find Barreiro, take a ferry across the River Tagus from the Terreiro do Paço station on the waterfront. Journey time to Faro is about 4½ hours. The railway station in Faro is just to the west of the town centre.
