Purple Ocean Restaurant has a light and elegant setting with al fresco dining. Its Rotunda Room has a 360 Degree view of the harbor, Bay and Dun Laoghaire. In the evening, the room is swathed with blue light and candles glow through amethyst crystals. It offers an assortment of Irish beers and exceptional wines.
Poppies is a cozy café and offer the best lattes around though a bit overpriced. Alexis is a superb bistro with a wide-ranging menu, but the service is a little less good than that of others.
Smyths is an old fashioned eatery that still preserves the appeal of a past age.The Purty Kitchen close to the West Pier, established in 1728, is a lovely pub with great food. Where most pubs make food a secondary option, Purty Kitchen differs. The Eagle house is a very old pub and is the heart of Glasthule. Rasam over the Eagle House is the best place in Dun Laoghaire for exotic delicious Indian cuisine. Café Mao is great place for dining out with family and big groups, their specialty being Nasi Goreng (Indonesian Rice). They give indications to customers as to how spicy the food should be.
Walters near Peoples Park, is one of the priciest eateries. It is a modern flamboyant place with excellent service. The 40 Foot mostly has younger customers. Scotts is a posh pub and its regulars come from an older cohort.
