
Dieppe
Dieppe founded on the estuary of the river by the Vikings who named it Djupa which means deep, it expanded and grew prosperous after the conquest of England. Dieppe is set between dramatic limestome cliffs which envelop its industrious port where fish is sold directly off the boats. The port developed its wealth when Jehan Ango raided Portuguese and English fleets.
Dieppe is not only a port but also famous for its seaside resort with beachside lawns amusements and medieval castle. Among the attractions include the church of Saint Jacques, church of Saint Remy, the museum Rue de Chastes containing a remarkable collection of carved ivories as well as impressionist paintings and the Cite de la Mer which exhibits aquariums and seafaring. The castle on the beach is the pleasant main shopping street other than this there are many small interesting shops along the Grand Rue which is pedestrianised.
Number of variety restaurants and wine shops are available in and around the city of Dieppe serving delicious foods and accommodation in the city is very easy to get one of them at quite a reasonable price.
