James Smithsonian is the founder of this Museum. It has been educating US people for over 100 years. In 1846, the proposal of building the museum was accepted by the Congress. After the death of Smithsonian, James.K.Polk completed the museum.

Admission is free to all in this museum and national zoo and the It remain open 10 am to 5.30pm but the castle building open from 8.30 am.
