Tenerife Costs, Money And Banks

Tenerife, being a part of the Spain uses Euro as the official currency. Spain was one of the first countries to adopt the Euro currency during the late nineties. With millions of European tourists visiting the canary island for spending their holiday it is indeed imperative that the island province accepts the common currency for the sake of easing up currency conversion issues for the tourists.

You can usually convert any of the standard currency like the dollars and yens to Euros at the banks or money exchangers. Without a doubt the banks offer the best deals when it comes to conversion but for emergency purposes you can even approach the restaurant you are staying with to convert your money. But they are bound to do so at a lower rate than the ones given by the standard banks.

The Tenerife is a busy tourist place and thus many of the top banks in the world are located in the island. Branches of Deutsche bank and Barclays bank are located on the island along with some of the other native banks of Spain.

Other than the option of converting your national currency to Euro you have the option of carrying travelers Cheque. This will be accepted by most banks and luxury hotels. If you are not comfortable with that credit and debit cards also offer a very viable alternative.  I once read that the credit card conversion rate is perhaps the best deal you can get! What more you just have to pay the ATM machine a small tip for every transaction as tax and all your money would be safe.

Food in the island is not too expensive and you can hope to get away with a good course of meal and wine with as low as 20 Euros. But again you can’t blame too much on the quality of the food. The better you are ready to pay, the better food you get! Hailing a taxi for a ride is a good option and you would be able to cover most of your trip within in island in less than a couple of Euros.

As an alternative you might want to use Car Rental Tenerife services which are also cheaper. The Car Rental Tenerife Airport service gets you access to a car as soon as you step down from your airplane.
