Numerous parks are spread through out Lanzarote which provide calm and peaceful surroundings away from the main coastline. To make sure you get to the parks when you want to and not be dependant upun public transport get car hire in Lanzarote.

One of the most unusual parks in Lanzarote is the Jardin de los Cactus which was designed by the famous local artist Caesar Manrique in 1989. It is a unique and abandoned quarry where around 10,000 species of cacti are found. Admission is free here.

Another park which focuses on the flora and fauna of the island is the National Park of Timanfaya, where you can find around 200 difference species of plants. It has steaming pools, geysers, mature trees, walking trails, camel trekking and a famous restaurant on site. The park is made on an attractive site which is actually a volcanic landscape.

The Rancho Texas Park is the famous Zoo on Lanzarote. It has loads of animals ranging from buffalos to ponies. There are numerous birds here as well which display their talents at the bird shows, although there is another very exciting seal show for children. This park is a treat for the whole family and a whole day or more should be spent here. It is very close to Puerto del Carman and so is a must visit.

Aqua water park is the only water park in Lanzarote. They have two swimming pools, a children’s leisure park, a game castle and a lot of children slides. Also one should watch out for the 8track slide and the whirl water and the rapids.

Another park is the Guinate Tropical Park. Lanzarote has amazing animal parks where the whole family can enjoy.  This park is huge, with gardens, lagoons waterfalls, exotic bords, reptiles and mammals from all over the globe. This park is also a breeding ground for some species. It is known for its parrot shows, and altogether it exhibits 6 bird shows daily. It includes botanical gardens, a kids play area, a souvenir shop and a cafe/snack bar onsite.
