The Cabalgata de los Reyes is on the 5th of january when three locals dressed in costumes as the three kings and parade on the streets of Arrecife, these people are followed by floats that handout sweet and candy to the onlooking children. Arrecife Carnival starts mid-February a week long festival takes place in which many carnivals are held ar the Recinto Ferial. Puerto del Carmen Carnival is a three day carnival which occurs near the end of February. It is a marvellous event that is full of exuberant peopl and spectacular floats, along with street entertainment and a outstanding gala event on the Friday.
During June Lanzarote witnesses a fantastic event that aims to enhance the rich history of the country and the heritage of Lanzarote. The main features of this festival include parties all around the island, more outdoor concerts, traditional rituals, sporting competitions, several fireworks at nightand bonfires, mainly on t he coastline. In July the Internacional Jazz Festival takes place. It is a three day festival that occurs on all the Canary Islands, it attracts Jazz lovers as artists from all over the world come to enjoy and play. Senora of the Carmen Festival is also held in July, religious statues are moved around the coastline on boats, and the streets filled with flowers.
Many festivals ain Lanzarote also occur when the locals pay tribute to their saints. These festivals are celebrated with the same enthusiasm and fervour, and are a sight for visitors. The Natioinal Day Festival occurs in October where the whole island celebrates the history and culture of Spain. In November a huge number of people gather to take part in or to witness the race that takes place on the streets of Arrecife.
