Bloemfontein is the province of South Africa as well as of Free State. The meaning of the name of the city Bloemfontein is Fountain of Flowers, or Flower Spring. The city was officially founded in 1846. It was founded as a British outpost in the Transoranje area by British army major Henry Douglas Warden.
