King Johns Castle.

The alter ego of Limerick. Built in the 12th century by conquering Normans, the castle gave prominence to the island as an easily defendable strategic location. It survived ten centuries of wars and sieges.

Cathedral of St. Mary Blessed Virgin

This cathedral is the oldest surviving historical monument in the city. It predates the Castle. Built by the Normans, it is in everyday use even now. The cathedral is the only one in whole of Ireland which has a complete set of Misericords.

Hunt museum.

This houses the collection of antiquities amassed by John hunt and his wife. Some of the notable items here are the Antrim Cross dating from 9th century made of bronze and enamel, some items from ancient Egypt, a small sketch by Picasso and a bronze horse from a Leonardo da Vinci design.

Treaty Stone

Mounted on a pedestal, this stone is an important Limerick history monument. The stone was used as table to sign the famous Limerick treaty in the 1691 between the victorious William III of orange and the vanquished Irish federation establishing English dominance in Ireland.
