Transport in Innsbruck

Innsbruck is a provincial capital city of the state Tyrol of western Austria. It is the fifth largest city in Austria. Located in the centre of Tyrol, it is a paradise for any mountain lover. It has hosted the Winter Olympics twice and would be hosting the first Winter Youth Olympics in 2012 and has made the city the most interesting and striking place to visit. It is the largest ski resorts in alps. It has become the most famous tourists place with lots of historic buildings, museums, churches, parks and gardens, castles and palaces, etc to visit. It also has widespread sports facilities in winter as well as in summer.

Transport in Innsbruck is not a big problem as it is a small city. Tourists in Innsbruck can roam around in buses, trams, taxis, bikes, trains, sightseer, etc. Besides these mentioned transports, Innsbruck car hire is more comfortable and easily accessible. The public transports like buses, trams, city trains and taxis are well established in routes but their services are not available after midnight. As it is a small city, people can go by foot also but it would be difficult for remote parts of the city.

Visitors should keep in mind that sometimes the bus lines are split-up to different destinations therefore, they need to concentrate on the destination displays and the announcements made. The ticket costs 1.7 € which can be bought from the driver. There are daily tickets and weekly tickets also available which are for 4 € and 12.30 € respectively, that can be purchased from machines present at bus stops or tram stops.

Visitors can also take a sightseer which is a small tourist bus which stops at the major sights of Innsbruck. There is a headphone present per person to hear to the information of the places the bus is passing by. Ski buses are also present in order to visit different mountains. Innsbruck being a centre of universities has become a biker-friendly place for students with biking tracks on the routes.

However, for a tourist it is better to hire a car from Innsbruck airport car hire  rather than going in the public transport or by foot so as to have the best vacation. There are many car hire companies also available in Innsbruck and they advise people to hire them before reaching the place to avoid troubles when you reach there.
