During the summer months Cyprus is dominated by anticyclonic high pressure systems that bring clear blue skies and temperatures that soar above 30°c day after day. Around the coast the average maximum temperature in June, July and August is 32°c. Inland, the maximum temperature can be as high as 40°c - although the average is closer to 35°c.
People who are rather intolerable to heat can go to the Troodos Mountains where the temperature remains some 10°c - 15°c cooler on average than places on the coast.
A welcome rainfall occurs during winter and spring but the summer remains beautifully dry. However, during winter the coastal area remains very cozy as the temperature hardly gets cold. At this time the temperature remains 16° to 18° by daytime and at night it never goes down 7°.
