
About Costa Dorada
Located between the two mountain ranges that border the Mediterranean system, Costa Dorada the golden coast which runs north east and south west of Tarragona is so named because of the colour of its beaches and the quality of the light. The countryside of the Costa Dorada can be defined as one of the great contrasts with unspoilt areas of great beauty and interest to the south, the Delta del Ebre Nature Park and the Ports de Tortosa- Besseit National Reserve and to the west the Prades Mountain.
The city of Costa Dorada is rich in history and culture. There are towns that have grown up offering a wide variety of services and facilities designed to satisfy the most discerning visitor and some of these former fishing villages have become real tourist meccas. The beaches of the city are long and wide and slope gently into the sea with few rocky outcrops and the sand is fine golden and clean as are the clear waters of the sea.
Among the attractions worth visiting are the golf courses, water parks which is really a fantastic place to visit and adventure sports include mountain biking. Apart from the above places the most famous places to visit without missing are the caves-some of them are really fabulous especially Coves Meravelles-Benifallet, La Cova de la Font Major and the Cave paintings of Ulldecona. The city of Costa Dorada houses number of museums of which some of the famous are the Monastery of Santes Creus Museum, the Municipal Museum of Alcover, Villa Romana Dels Munts, the Montsia Museum, the Due Museum, the Rural life Museum, Cathedral and Diocesan Museum and Modern Art Museum.
Food is fabulous in the city, restauranta and bar are all avialable in and around the city and especially in the city center. Accommodation is in plenty and is very busy in the peak season it is advisable to get your accommodation booked in advance.
