Corfu is an island that is close to Greece. It is located in the Ionian Sea and is the second biggest of the Ionian Islands.
Corfu has always had strong links to Greece and its name has links to Poseidon. There have been many battles connected to the island and there are many castles at various locations on the island. Two of these surround the capital making it the only Greek city where this happens and as a result is classed as a castle city. Corfu was ruled by Venice and they fought off a number of Turkish invasions. There is Mouse Island along with the Achillion Palace and there is no need to have children to go to Aqualand Water Park as there are some slides that should only be tried by adults. Hydropolis Theme park is more for children although there are some lovely bars and restaurants to sit and watch. There are lifeguards on duty so the children should be safe.
