Confucius & Confucius Mansion – the mansion, temple and cemetery of the scholar Confucius is situated in Qufu, Shandong Province is listed as UNESCO’s world heritage sites in 1994. The mansion is the living quarters of the first grandson of Confucius and is also known as master Yansheng’s Mansion. Because in 1055 and during the reign of the Song Dynasty Emperor Zhaozhen, Kong Zongyuan, the decendent of Confucius was given the title ‘Master Yansheng’.

Dazu Stone Carvings – a small mountainous town west of Chongqing is famous for the stone carvings, with more than 100,000 pieces left over from the Tang and Song dynasty. The carvings are representative of ancient Chinese art tradition and holds importance in religion and cultural history of China. The stone carvings date back to 1174 to 1249 century.

The Forbidden City – is also included in the world heritage site. The city is also known as the Imperial Palace or Palace Museum located in the center of Beijing was built in the early 14 th century. The palace was the imperial residence of 24 Chinese Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasty in the 1368-1911 century. The palace is rectangular in shape and covers one third of the 8km long central axis of Beijing’s old city, from the city gate of Yongdingmen on the south to the Drum and Bell towers on the north.

The Great Wall of China – China’s most important cultural and historical symbol and the trip to China would be incomplete, without visiting the monumental structure. The Great Wall is the best-known ancient constructions in the world and stretches from Shanghaiguan in the east to Jiayuguan in the west, a total distance of over 6,300 kilometers. The construction of the wall began in the 7 th- 4 th century BC during the spring and autumn period.

Heavenly Lake – situated east of the Tianshan Mountain range north of Bogda Peak was known as Yaochi in the ancient times. The lake is surrounded by snow mountains, glacier forest and grassland alpine lakes featuring a vertical natural landscape belt.

Mogao Grottoes – commonly known as the ‘Thousand Buddha Caves’ or Mogao caves is situated on the cliff of Mingsha mountain southeast of Dunhuang City. The carving began in 366 Ad with paintings and murals, still some 492 caves survived.

Old Town of Lijiang – in south China’s Yunnan Province is the only city listed in the UNESCO world heritage list. It is referred as the old town for its 1300years history and home to the ancient Dongba culture. it is situated on a plateau at an elevation of 2,600m and is impressive for its scenery and lush vegetation.
