
Cefalu
Cefalu lies on the North coast of Sicily halfway between Palermo and Mussina. The coast forms a natural harbour first exploited in the ninth century. The normans arrived in Sicily during the eleventh century and conquered the island by 1901, King Roger II of Sicily built the cathedral and Cefalu a center of Norman power along with Palermo. The exterior of the cathedral was Norman in its style and the interior was furnished with Mosaics excuted by Byzantine craftsmen that Roger bought to Cefalu from Italy.
