Canberra

Canberra has a population of over 350,000. It is the capital of Australia and has been since 1913 so is now in the process of planning for its centenary. It is situated at the north end of the Australian Capital Territory and is the 8th largest city in the country. Canberra is a planned city and did not just grow as people moved there. It did not grow as much as would have been hoped due to the depression and both World Wars. There are many buildings of great significance such as Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial and the Royal Military College. Finances are quite good in Canberra as there are many public servant jobs and low unemployment alongside a young population.
